Aerial Silk at ALAGYMNASTICS

Aerial Silk, also known as tissu or fabric, is a breathtaking form of aerial artistry that combines dance, acrobatics, and strength. Performed on two long pieces of fabric hanging from the ceiling, students learn to climb, wrap, drop, and pose gracefully in the air. It’s a full-body workout that builds incredible strength, flexibility, and body awareness while allowing for creative expression.

The Art of Flying

Imagine combining the grace of dance with the strength of gymnastics, all while suspended in the air. That’s what Aerial Silk is all about. Our classes teach you how to use the fabric to create stunning shapes and sequences. From learning fundamental climbs and foot locks to more advanced drops and wraps, you’ll progress at your own pace in a safe and supportive environment.

Who Can Take Aerial Silk Classes?

What You’ll Learn

Our progressive curriculum ensures you build skills safely and effectively. Here’s a glimpse of what you can expect to learn:

  1. Foundations: Proper mounting techniques, basic climbs, foot locks (the key to sitting safely in the fabric), and core engagement.
  2. Poses and Wraps: Learning beautiful static poses like the “cocoon,” “frog,” and various wraps that create stunning shapes with the fabric.
  3. Sequencing: Connecting poses and movements together to create flowing combinations and short routines.
  4. Drops and Dynamic Movements: For more advanced students, we introduce controlled drops and more dynamic sequences that add excitement to your practice.
  5. Conditioning: Specific exercises on and off the fabric to build the upper body and core strength needed for aerial work.

What to Wear for Your First Class

Proper attire is important for both comfort and safety in aerial silks. The fabric can be sensitive to bare skin, so covering up is key.
