Mommy/Daddy and Me at ALAGYMNASTICS
Our Mommy/Daddy and Me classes are a wonderful introduction to movement and gymnastics for your little one, with you right there by their side. This program is designed for toddlers and preschoolers to explore movement, music, and basic gymnastics skills in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment. It’s the perfect way to bond with your child while helping them develop essential motor skills and confidence.
A Special Time for You and Your Little One
These classes are all about shared discovery. Together, you and your child will explore the gymnastics equipment, sing songs, play games, and learn basic skills like rolling, balancing, and jumping. It’s a magical time of connection and play that lays the foundation for a lifelong love of physical activity. Plus, you’ll both make new friends in a welcoming community of parents and little ones.
Why Choose Our Mommy/Daddy and Me Program?
At ALAGYMNASTICS, we understand that every child develops at their own pace. Our experienced instructors create a warm, supportive atmosphere where children feel safe to explore and parents feel confident participating. We focus on positive reinforcement and fun, ensuring that both you and your child leave each class with smiles on your faces. It’s more than just a gymnastics class – it’s a special bonding experience.
What Makes Our Classes Special?
- Bonding Time: Strengthen the connection with your child through interactive play and shared activities.
- Social Development: Little ones learn to interact with other children and adults in a group setting, building important social skills.
- Motor Skill Development: Age-appropriate activities help develop gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and body awareness.
- Confidence Building: With you nearby for support, children gain the confidence to try new things and explore their abilities.
- Fun Introduction to Gymnastics: Your child will be introduced to basic gymnastics concepts in a playful, non-competitive way.
- Parent Community: Connect with other parents and caregivers in your neighborhood who are at the same stage of life.
Class Structure and Activities
Each class follows a predictable routine that helps children feel secure while keeping them engaged:
- Welcome Circle: We start with a friendly hello, singing songs and doing simple movements together to get comfortable.
- Exploration Time: Guided activities where you and your child explore different stations – soft mats, low beams, tunnels, and more – with age-appropriate equipment.
- Skill Focus: Introduction to simple gymnastics skills like log rolls, bear walks, frog jumps, and balancing with your help.
- Music and Movement: Parachute play, bubbles, scarves, and rhythmic activities that bring joy and develop coordination.
- Goodbye Circle: We end each class with a calming song and a special goodbye, creating a sense of closure and routine.
Age Groups and Class Options
We offer classes for different developmental stages to ensure age-appropriate activities:
- Little Explorers (Ages 12-24 months): Focus on sensory exploration, basic movements, and parent-child bonding through gentle activities.
- Independent Movers (Ages 2-3 years): More structured activities that encourage beginning independence while still having parent nearby for support and encouragement.
- Ready, Set, Go! (Ages 3-4 years): Introduction to more structured gymnastics concepts, preparing children for independent classes while still enjoying parent participation.
What to Bring and Wear
Come ready to move and play with your little one!
- For your child: Comfortable clothing that allows free movement (leotard, onesie, or soft t-shirt and pants). Bare feet are best for grip and sensory development.
- For you: Comfortable athletic wear that you can easily move around in. Bare feet or non-slip socks are recommended.
- Essentials: Bring a water bottle for yourself and your little one. Diapers and wipes just in case!
- Optional: A favorite small toy or comfort item can help with transitions, though we’ll have plenty of fun things to play with.
Parent Tips for a Great Class Experience
- Follow your child’s lead – let them explore at their own pace.
- Participate enthusiastically – your excitement is contagious!
- Don’t worry about perfection – it’s all about exploration and fun.
- Take photos during designated times (check with your instructor).
- Arrive a few minutes early to help your child transition into the space.
